For my personal project, I decided to try and establish an online dropshipping business. A dropshipping business is an online website based business in which you market a product which you find suppliers for from websites like Oberlo, UDroppy, and Aliexpress. These websites sell those products for an MSRP which is typically a lot cheaper than the perceived value the product holds. You can upsell the product on your marketed website for a higher price (which would typically be justified with an included premium, which in my case was faster shipping) for a profit. Whenever someone orders off your website, then only do your order that exact product from the supplier meaning that you never have to even see the product you are selling or a keep your own stock of it in your own warehouse, because it goes directly from the supplier to the customer; and all you do is market the product and pocket the profit.

How?
My initial research question and inquiry starting this project was whether or not a business model like this, with such ease of entry, can actually be viable in the long term and make me some money. The global context I had chosen was Globalization and Sustainability because I wanted to look into how different global systems work together to make this business model possible. There are a lot of articles and youtube tutorials online on what softwares and platforms to use and how to use them on everything from choosing a product to fulfilling your first sale.
My Motivation
Why?
My motivation behind this product/ project was that I would always making money interesting. Especially in the form of a business. I find it interesting that you can create your own formula or a follow a formula (business formula) to earn yourself money in real life. Some of these models and business formulas have earned a lot of people a lot of money and this does not exclude dropshipping. People have made millions of this type off business model.
The Product
Going Live
Once my website was ready to go live and all my logistics and back end work checked up, I started contacting several instagram influencer pages whose audience would fit in my niche for promotions on their story, feed, bio, etc. For my first website, I had made just one sale and I did not break even. The amount of traffic my page was getting was also quite dry so I thought that the product I had chosen was too dry. I had chosen it about 3 months prior and it took me 3 months to create the website because I also had to learn how to use all the platforms I was using to setup my store. Hence, I decided to scrap the whole store and choose a new product with a brand new website. Now that I had known how to use all the softwares and platforms I was using to create my store, it had taken just 2 weeks to setup my 2nd and new store. By contrast, it looked a lot nicer and the product was quite popular. I decided to not spend too much on advertising as the product deadline was the next day and typically, the marketing part of your store is the most crucial part and it is where you lose the most money, so I did not want to rush it. I paid for feed and story promo on just one page but I had unfortunately not made any orders, but I did get a lot of traffic, far more than my first store. Hence, I believe that for this second store if I invest a bit more money into marketing and also try out facebook marketing I could have a very successful store on my hands.

This is the website I first had but it had sort of flopped, so I shut it down because I did not want to continue paying for it monthly.

This is the 2nd website I created and it is still currently live as this is personally my favourite one, and I definitely plan on investing some more money into further more advertising for this store.
